The Asking
If you’d like to have “The Asking” in your ceremony, you’re welcome to select from this list, modify one of these, or create your own wording entirely.
Although it’s common, you and your partner don’t need to answer the same question and can choose different wording.
1.Do you take [Name] to be your [wife/husband] and promise to love them and stand by them through whatever may come so you can share your life together?
2."Do you, [Name], take [Name] to be your lawfully wedded [husband/wife], to have and to hold, in sickness and in health, for as long as you both shall live?"
3."Do you, [Name], promise to stand by [Name]'s side, to laugh with them, cry with them, and be faithful to them through whatever life may bring?"
4."Do you, [Name], take [Name] as your life partner, to share in love, laughter, and all the days to come?"
5."Will you, [Name], take [Name] to be your partner, to support, care for, and stand beside through all life’s journeys?"
6."Do you vow to encourage, celebrate, and support [Name], and to be their faithful partner always?"
7."Will you promise to honour [Name], love them fiercely, and embrace all life’s adventures together?"
8."Will you take [Name] as your spouse, to walk with them in honesty, kindness, and compassion for as long as you both shall live?"
9."Do you, [Name], take [Name] to be your beloved, to be faithful, loyal, and committed, and to hold this union as a sacred covenant?"
10."Do you, [Name], promise to keep [Name] as your favourite person, to laugh together, go on adventures together, and support each other in all things?"
